I have nothing to wear

2024

performance

17 min

"I have nothing to wear!" complains the performer as she falls to her knees in a flashy suit, five ties, and green leather shoes shaped like large bare feet.
The audience sits facing each other in two long rows, creating a runway for the artist, who crosses it with constantly shifting speed and intensity.
Through various narrative fragments, the performance explores our complex relationship with clothing. As a "second skin," we use it as a tool for self-marketing, to classify others into social strata, as a toy for identity exploration and emancipatory self-expression, as a symbol of female oppression, and as a sentimental keepsake.
